zone conference on wed! were going to the temple in the morning and then keukenhof (tulip fields) all afternoon! We are so excited and are praying for beautiful weather :) it has been cold again for the last few weeks but the sun peaks out for at least a little everyday. the dutch loveee talking about weather so if it becomes a habit in my emails i apologize. Next wednesday i get to go to brussels to do legality and then the following wed is my bday! loving wednesdays right now!
We had a pretty great/successful week this week! we were not the strongest set of zuster missionaries this week because im still pretty limpy with my dead ankle and zr gardner lost her voice for a couple days.. haha we just laughed at the situation everyday but the lord blessed us because we were still out working hard! and i had no choice but to strengthen my dutch this week so i could make full contacts and teach lessons. Definitely still struggling but i get the message across and the members and investigators we know well enjoy laughing at me as i stumble through words. I still have days where i really dislike this language but at least now i can say enough to have someone want us to come back and teach them in their home.
We had some intestering lessons this week, some really strong lessons, and 1 in english with a man from south africa that i cant wait to teach more! The lord gives us english lessons as a treat once in a while i think because it really helps me realize more of what i am doing and helps me see that my testimony and knowledge is growing. i continued to love my studying time this week and growing closer to this gospel. i love the time i have hear to sincerely search and ponder the scriptures and see the gospel in a whole new light.
Have a great week!

easter
Happy Tweede Pasen! (2nd day of Easter)
Yup, the netherlands celebrate Easter for 2 days (well 3 b/c friday was off for good friday too). Everything is closed today so we are foced to stay home and relax. Darn :)
Anyways, it was a great easter week! yesterday we had church, then a wonderful dutch brunch with Fam De Jonge, one great appointment and then spent the rest of the day with 2 zones of missionaries for the easter concert. it was a beautiful spiritual night!
The rest of the week seems like so long ago.. hm.. we made chili for district meeting this week and tried to make corn bread but accidently bought corn starch since we didnt know what its called in dutch. the sr couple tried to go buy corn meal during the meeting and came back with another box of corn starch.. haha and they dont use the same measuring system so we had some very spicy chili. one of the elders got out his hot food sweat rag. it was pretty funny.
Hope everyone had a great Easter!
Till next week!

april?
Conference!
Its April! And the beginning of my 2nd transfer! I feel so blessed to be where I am today and feel even more blessed to be a member of the Lords church and a servant to him at this time. For those of you that are not LDS, we had our general conference this weekend. Twice a year we get to hear from our prophet and leaders from our church, it is a beautiful experiecne! (go to lds.org to see more). I cannot think of another time in my life (almost 24 years...ahh!)that I have received so much inspiration and felt the spirit so strongly listening to the Lords prophet and apostles during conference. I was trying to pick out a favorite talk last this morning to share today but there was just too much beautiful insight to choice from!
Saturday we watched the morning session (6pm here) at a members home with an investigator. I felt so spoiled to be sitting on a couch with my blanket, a bowl of homemade soup and with people that i have grown to love! Sunday we watched the Sat pm session and the Sun morning session at the stake center in Rotterdam. Most of the missionaries from the area were there and the sr couple made us sloppy joes and sweet rolls so we were well fed in all ways that day! It was one of my favorite weekends yet!
I have never felt more blessed to be a member of this church. listening to our leaders give us inspiration and guidance has never felt so good. I have been loving my study time so much lately and feel like so much of my studies prepared me to more fully understand the talks this weekend. So many of the scriptural examples were ones that i have read and pondered in the last few weeks. i loved relating the talks to the needs of our investigators and members and i cannot wait to share them with them this week! President Monson laid out the plan of salvation so perfectly for us and i was able to share that with a man on the train on the way home. I loved the many talks on forgiveness and judgement. the lord knows his children. I love the bumper sticker example from Uchtdorf "Dont judge me because I sin different than you". So true :)
Elder Scott gave the perfect talk for one of my investigators but also gave so much guidance in a very "normal" sounding way. I didnt even realize how much guidance was given from that talk until i reread my notes later. my favorite quote was "a good sense of humor helps revelation". My laughter gets me through everyday and I am happy to hear that it helps me to receive relelation as well :) I encourage you all to relisten to individual talks!
I had a gift of tongues experience this week that was just crazy! i talked in a lesson for almost 40 mins and was not even noticing that it was all (well mostly) in dutch! my language skills are definitely improving and i am so grateful! i still have a long way to go but the progession is strengthening my faith.
Didnt have much time this week so most of this is taken out of my letter home so I apologize if its a bit spastic! love you and all and hope you have a great Easter!
